Thomas Peterson for Mayor

Anoka needs a new mayor. As a French Bulldog, I feel I am suitably qualified. I know how to sit, shake hands, and, in an emergency, play dead. Additionally, I promise that I won't roll over on any issue.

Dog Prison?

Monday, August 28, 2006

Another reason to vote for me:

According to recent figures, more than two million American citizens currently live in a prison, which is approximately one in every 142 people. How many dogs do you think go to jail? That's right. None!

I beg to differ. What do you call the pound? Or even the PC-friendly Humane Society. I think both even have solitary and death row. And kennels are clearly cages or like hous earrest. They are just let the good dogs out on work release (work being short for napping, cuddling, turning... I mean doing tricks and, dare I say it... campaigning for office!). :)

You make a good point, but the true question is why dogs are sent to kennels. Is it punishment for crimes? No. Most all dogs are sent to kennels and humane societies because of negligent or stupid guardians.

I should correct myself. When I said in this post that no dogs go to jail, my intention was to show that canines are much more law-abiding than the average human. I don't mean the statement literally. Of course, dogs can "go to jail" - as volunteers or as company for inmates. But a judge never sentences a dog to 10-20 in solitary confinement, 90 days in county jail, or lifetime without parole.
